The Yeti Trio, celebrating our 15th year, once again performed at the Allman Brothers' Wanee Festival in Florida, this past April. We shared the stage with The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Maceo Parker, Galactic and the legendary Tower of Power!

In July, we opened for the incredible fusion trio The Aristocrats, at The Masquerade, in Atlanta. It was quite an honor to share the stage with the amazing Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller and Guthrie Govan!

This summer, I started a side business called "Crash Course" - we're a percussion ensemble for corporate team building events. I assembled an excellent team and our first client was Microsoft! Olivia Kieffer and Justin Varnes are my fellow instructors and main partners; Chris Fragale from The Atlanta Institute of Music is head of administration; Vaylor Trucks is the tech guy and helps with other musical aspects; Stuart Gerber of Georgia State University provides the facilities and gear. We're  looking forward to a successful year with many new clients in 2014!

I was quite honored to be a judge at the popular Guitar Center Drum Off competition in Atlanta. It was exciting and inspiring to hear great drum solos by up and coming drummers!

News 2012

I took over several classes at the Atlanta Institute of Music (AIM), including teaching Jazz, Funk, Latin and Click. I’ve infused the curriculum with many of my own educational materials.

I composed my first rudimental snare drum piece and have begun the long process of writing a snare drum book based on rudiments, with a heavy emphasis on flams and diddles.

I also composed 2 solo mallet pieces that will most likely end up on my 3rd disc. One is on the West African balafon and the other is a modern, episodic 4-mallet work on marimba.

In addition to 3 “full” pieces (drumset/mallets/auxiliary percussion) that I’ve already recorded for the 3rd cd and are “in the can,” I’ve finished 10 more compositions in the last year. I hope to record them sometime in 2013 or 2014.

The YETI Trio once again played our brand of fiery fusion at the Wanee Festival in April, as guests of Butch Trucks, the drummer in The Allman Brothers Band. Furthermore, we played our first headlining gig in over a decade at a cool place in metro Atlanta, called Matilda’s Cottage. I continue to play live shows throughout the Southeast with Liz Melendez and teach privately at my drum studio.

News 2011

Percussion Discussion was released the end of February.

In April, I played crazy fusion music with The YETI Trio at the Allman Brothers' festival "Wanee," in Florida. In conjunction with this performance, we released a live CD, entitled Go Play! The music was culled from our reunion show 2 years ago with Mike Keneally & Bryan Beller. There's live footage of me on the new Liz Melendez DVD, Unknown Rockstar, which was released in June.

I spent about 2 months of the summer on tour as the percussionist with Arrival, from Sweden. They play the music of ABBA. It was a highly successful tour; the highlights being a sold out performance at Red Rocks in Colorado and playing with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra at their beautiful Davies Symphony Hall. My percussion station consisted of the following instruments: tympani, xylophone, glockenspiel, suspended cymbal, bar chimes, tambourine, shaker, cabasa and congas. I also learned how to speak a little bit of Swedish!

I added a little bit of auxiliary percussion on Randy Hoexter's forthcoming CD. It was cool to record triangle over Dave Weckl's drum parts!

In addition to the above, I continue to teach and gig in the Atlanta area. I'm currently composing the percussion pieces that will comprise my 3rd CD.
